According to the Financial Times and MacRumors, Apple recently signed a number of new multi-year contracts with some of the biggest record labels.
So what: While contracts may seem a bit excessive within the baseball world, the fact that Apple has been able to strike a deal with the labels of hugely popular artists like Taylor Swift, Lizzo, Adele and more simply means you'll be able to listen to them for a lot longer.
As MacRumors notes, rival Spotify has struggled recently to renew its own music rights, which could give Apple a distinct advantage down the road.
Conflicting numbers: Some sources place Apple Music at the top of the paying subscriber pile, while others point out that Spotify has more subscribers and listeners overall. Both services need to maintain their large catalogs of popular music to keep members paying their monthly fees.
