Much of the attention at Apple's WWDC event was focused on an update to the iPhone operating system, but tablet owners are also getting a huge operating system update.
iPadOS 18.1 Beta 2 | Apple Intelligence Gets WAY Better!
The company just announced the upcoming launch of iPadOS 16, and showed off many of the upcoming features coming to the latest version of the tablet-focused operating system. First up, a more robust multitasking interface that moves well beyond the side-by-side split view available on current iPad models.
The redesigned interface makes it easy to see what apps are open and, as such, switch between them at will. New tools let users juggle between up to eight apps and even make it possible to resize windows, bringing modern iPads closer to legitimate PCs than ever before.
Gaming on iPad is also getting some improvements, with activity-based updates to Game Center so you can see what games your friends are playing, and full integration with the multiplayer-focused SharePlay. The developer-driven Metal 3 API is also being unveiled for M1-equipped iPads, which should lead to more graphically demanding games.
