The 3rd-generation Apple TV 4K is an incremental improvement over its predecessor, with a few welcome changes, including a USB-C port on the Siri remote. (This model came out in 2022, before the USB-C iPhone 15 series arrived.) Sharing cables between devices and people is getting easier all the time. Arriving in late 2023, this will be Apple’s latest Apple TV model, and it lives up to expectations.
Apple TV 4K (3rd generation) review – 6 months later
The 3rd-generation Apple TV 4K has the company’s A15 chip (the previous version had the A12), so there’s a definite speed boost. The device is smaller and lighter than the previous version. The Siri remote is pretty much the same, save for the USB-C port.
The price dropped by $50, from $179 to $129. Like previous Apple TVs, this model runs tvOS, which is regularly updated.
If you have an iPhone, setup is simple. Plug in the Apple TV 4K, connect it to your TV, select the correct input, and follow the instructions on your phone. It only took us a few minutes to get started.
