Apple Watch Series 4 REVIEW: The world's best smartwatch just got better
The Apple Watch wasn’t the first smartwatch to hit the market, but between Apple’s signature style and premium features – and a premium price tag to match – it quickly became the gold standard by which other wearables are measured. The Series 4 edition of the Apple Watch (44mm, Wi-Fi-only model reviewed) carries on the legacy of its predecessors but with significant improvements across the board. It might not look much different at first glance, but subtle upgrades to the display, design, and wellness features make it the most usable and wholly impressive Apple Watch to date. It certainly isn’t cheaper, however, and users who don’t need all the latest upgrades would be better off saving a bunch of money for an older Apple Watch.
The Apple Watch Series 4 shares the same overall aesthetic as the previous three models, with the rounded, rectangular watch face that makes it feel like a small iPhone on your wrist, along with the spinning Digital Crown and a physical button on the right side.
However, for the first time since the device launched, Apple has tweaked the dimensions to 1.7 by 1.5 by 0.4 inches (HWD). The result is a slimmer profile and a Watch that feels less bulky on your wrist. When we compared the original Apple Watch to the Series 4, we could tell the difference in day-to-day fit. Apple hasn’t changed much, as all previous Apple Watch bands (official or otherwise) still fit like normal, but subtly removing some bulk can work wonders.
