How to Double Tap on your Apple Watch 9 – Enabling/Disabling Settings and Features
New to the Apple Watch Series 9 is the company’s S9 chipset. After a series of iterative updates, the S9 represents the first major processing leap for Apple’s wearables since the company introduced the S6 alongside the Series 6 in 2020. According to the tech giant, the S9 has 60 percent more transistors than the S8 in the Apple Watch Series 8, while the onboard GPU is 30 percent faster. A newly designed four-core neural engine also allows the Series 9 to process Siri requests on-device, meaning they won’t be slowed down by sluggish Wi-Fi or cellular connections.
Additionally, the Series 9 features a new Ultra Wideband (UWB) chip that offers improved HomePod connectivity and greater precision. Apple also equipped the Series 9 with a new always-on OLED display that can peak at 2,000 nits of brightness, or twice as bright as the Series 8. Thanks to the new S9 in the Series 9, Apple’s latest wearable enables a handy new gesture Apple is calling “Double Tap.” Without touching the wearable, you can do things like answer and end calls by tapping your index finger and thumb together.
“Double Tap makes interacting with your Watch faster, easier and more convenient than ever,” said Jeff Williams, Apple’s chief operating officer.
