First there was the tiny MacBook Air. Then Apple made it bigger. Now it’s almost as powerful as the M3 MacBook Pro.
This is the advantage of the M3 Macbook Air…
In a quiet announcement on its website on Monday, Apple dropped the new MacBook Air with an M3 chip in both the 13-inch and 15-inch models. The M3 chip will make the MacBook Air up to 60 percent faster than the M1 version and more than 13 times faster than the Intel version, according to Apple's press release.
The M3 chip offers an 8-core CPU, upgradeable to a 10-core, and up to 24GB of memory. This translates to a boost in the speed at which the MacBook Air can process data, and an onboard neural engine means AI becomes even more accessible to MacBook Air users.
These features are paired with a lightweight aluminum frame, which now comes in the standard Apple Space Gray and Silver options, as well as Starlight and Midnight. Apple says the Midnight version "features a breakthrough anodized sealant to reduce fingerprints." The MacBook Air's battery life gets a boost, too. Apple says the Air's battery now lasts up to 18 hours, "six hours longer than an Intel-based MacBook Air."
