Apple has come up with an ingenious way to add more powerful magnets to the iPad without making the magnets dangerous or a nuisance in everyday use.
How Apple is going to make iPads AWESOME AGAIN!
The new design sees Apple place powerful magnets inside mobile devices like the iPad, hidden away from the edge so that their strong magnetic fields don’t extend too far beyond the boundaries of the iPad itself. Then, when you bring a compatible device close to the surface of the iPad, these magnets spring to the surface, ready to grab whatever you’ve brought within range. Which got us wondering: What sort of nifty tricks could the iPad perform if it had such powerful magnets inside it?
“A magnetic folio case or keyboard could attach securely for enhanced versatility as a mobile workstation. Or perhaps a mountable magnetic dock to let the iPad seamlessly transition between desktop, countertop, or dashboard displays in different environments. From an accessory pricing and ecosystem attachment perspective, magnetic add-ons feel very on-brand for Apple’s strategy,” John Pennypacker, VP at AI company Deep Cognition, told Lifewire via email.
Fact: I once tested an iPad case with a floppy felt band with a powerful magnet on the end. One day I picked up the iPad and the band’s magnet in turn caught the cast iron teapot on the tray next to me. Luckily, the teapot was cold and nearly empty.
