A lot of great software isn’t in the Mac App Store, meaning you have to download and install it manually. Applite is a free Mac application that acts as an unofficial app store for all of this software.
HomeBrew: Package Manager for Mac. My Favorite Packages
Experienced users know that the easiest way to install and keep Mac software up to date is via Homebrew, a text-based package manager for macOS. Applite is essentially a graphical user interface for Homebrew's cask, the part of that tool that lets you download and install applications that aren't handled via the command line.
If you don't know what the previous paragraph means, don't worry: you usually don't need to. Just install Applite and launch the application. You'll be prompted to provide the "Brew Exectuable Path." If you're already a Homebrew user, select the appropriate option; otherwise, select "Applite's installation."
After this, you can use Applite. If you’re already a Homebrew user, you’ll notice that your applications will show up as installed, which is a nice touch. You can basically use this like you would any other app store, browsing and installing anything that looks interesting or useful.
