Giant Beavers, or Castoroides as they are called in Ark: Survival Ascended, build dams on or near shallow bodies of water. These beaver dams are a great source of various essential crafting materials.

You would think that these cute looking Castoroides wouldn’t mind you entering their homes, but that’s definitely not true. Once you reach the Giant Beaver Dams, they quickly become hostile. We recommend not killing them though; you want them to quickly rebuild their dams.
Giant beaver dams appear in various places on the large Center map, most notably on the three central Jungle Islands, in the swamp surrounding the Floating Island, and in the Redwood biome.
