Ashlyn completed a minor in English and majored in Communications with a focus in print journalism at CSUF. She went back to school and earned an MS in Journalism Innovation from Syracuse University.

She worked in the editorial department as an Opinion Assistant Editor for The Daily Titan, a daily student newspaper. She contributed to all sections of the paper, from opinion, features, arts and entertainment, news, breaking news and social media such as live-tweeting and early livestreaming on Periscope via Twitter.
