Aura Digital Picture Frame 10." Carver Review | First Impressions
The best digital photo frames make it easy to display your photos from a durable, intuitive device. With a companion app that makes it easy to upload photos from your phone or social media, digital photo frames like the Aura Carver can serve as decoration for your home or as a gift for loved ones. But with more and more smart displays like the Echo Show and Nest Hub offering photo display functionality as part of a much richer suite of smart features, is the Aura Carver still worth it? I tested it for two weeks to find out, evaluating its design, installation, display quality, and software.
When I first saw the box of the Aura Carver, I was impressed. I have reviewed many products and rarely do I come across packaging that makes me stop and think, “Wow, this is really beautiful.” The packaging makes the device look elegant and expensive.
That said, when I opened the beautiful box, there were a few issues with the design of the frame. While many picture frames like the Brookstone PhotoShare have a flat back that allows them to be wall-mounted, the Aura Carver has a pyramid-shaped back. While this means that you don’t need a stand, it also means that you can’t mount the frame, as there’s no keyhole mount and the pyramid-shaped back of the frame is simply too thick and bulky to even attempt to wall-mount.
