SAD Lamps are NOT what you think… (lighting against winter blues)
Light therapy clocks are a popular choice for those who want a gentle light wake-up call without being tied to the sun’s schedule, but they’re not for everyone’s needs. Lamps like the Aura Daylight Therapy Lamp offer the benefits of energizing light therapy in a device that can be used anywhere in the home. Several thoughtful features like timers and the ability to mount the lamp on the wall are handy, and the super-bright 10,000 lux output doesn’t hold back on performance. We tested it out for a few weeks, read on to see what we thought.
The Aura Daylight Therapy Lamp is quite large at about 9 inches wide and 13.5 inches high. The base is large and stable enough that our dog’s enormous tail couldn’t knock it over. The large button at the bottom center is easy to find in the dark. The button has tactile prints to indicate three functions: turn on, increase timer, and decrease timer. The lamp will automatically turn on for ten minutes and the timer can be increased in ten-minute intervals to turn on for an hour.
We used it mostly on desks and tabletops every morning, but it can also be mounted on the wall. Unfortunately, the cord prevents the lamp from sitting flush against the wall when mounted.
