An overlooked feature that is actually very useful

How can I make a web page scroll automatically in a computer's web browser?

Automation is one of the most important keys to maximizing your productivity. Just think how laborious everyday desk work would be if simple keyboard shortcuts like Ctrl+A, to select all text, or Ctrl+LMB (left mouse button), to open a link in a new tab, didn’t exist.

Modern browsers do a good job of covering the basics of keyboard shortcuts, like jumping between tabs, changing your zoom level, stopping a page from loading, and more. However, autoscrolling is largely overlooked, despite its extreme usefulness.

If you have an external mouse and you’re running Windows, chances are you can click with the middle mouse button. When you click an area of a web page with the middle mouse button, your cursor will change into a multi-directional crosshair in most modern browsers. When you move your mouse in a direction away from the starting point of that crosshair, the page will automatically begin to scroll.
