The Avenge the Drowned quest starts out as a seemingly simple sidequest in Baldur's Gate 3, tasking you with discovering the beast that killed a Waveservant of Umberlee. But discovering the beast leads to further quests and, more importantly, crucial allies.

To start the Avenge the Drowed quest in BG3, head to the House of the Water Queen in the southwestern part of the Lower City when you arrive at Baldur's Gate. Along the way, you'll pass a dock area where the source of the problem you'll soon be dealing with lies.
Once inside the Water Queen's House, you'll see a funeral procession pass by as the Waveservants of Umberlee mourn one of their own dead, Holli, who tragically lost her life at Grey Harbor.
The leader of this procession, Flood Tide Allandra Grey, is holding the victim's last rites as you enter. If you speak to her, she will ask you for a donation. If you donate, she will tell you that Holli was killed by a noxious beast that patrols the waters of Grey Harbor.
