Towards the end of Act One in Baldur's Gate 3, an unassuming old man called the Weary Traveler joins the long list of sketchy characters you encounter. His appearance is so non-malevolent that I found him highly suspicious. After all, it's always the ones you least expect.

To our surprise, it turns out that the visitor is open about his or her intentions.
As you prepare to enter the Shadow-Cursed Lands and begin the Moonrise Tower arc in BG3, the Weary Traveler stops your party and asks for Gale.
If you are honest, the traveler will ask you to come back to camp with him so he can talk to Gale. If you agree, you will soon discover that the Weary Traveler can indeed be trusted: he is an old friend (and in fact mentor) of Gale.
