BeReal, the photo-centric social media app that asks all its users to take a photo once a day on a random timeline, has just updated its app with four new features.
How does BeReal work for beginners 🔥
Perhaps the strangest is still quite thematic: Behind the Scenes records a video of you a few seconds before you take your photo for the day, so your friends can see what’s going on around you as you snap your photo. Maybe a little too real? Hard to say, but the company promises that this is one of the most requested features from its community, so who are we to judge? Still, the feature is easily toggled on and off, so the company must be aware that some users might not like it as much as others.
RealGroups is the app’s version of chat, with the ability to add select people to a group and then share photos and chat, all in one private place. The twist? You can only have two RealGroups at a time. Will you create a group for your family to plan that vacation? A group for your book club, so you can share all the fun places to sneak away and read in town?
Whoever you choose, you will get a custom notification that is separate from the "Time to BeReal" notifications you get with the regular app, just for your RealGroup. When you create the group, you are the admin and can activate notifications for the group whenever you want. You can also chat as a group and send and receive BeReals privately.
