In this age of multiple cameras on smartphones, portrait photos are all the rage. While many smartphones now have dedicated depth sensors to give you that sharp bokeh effect, you may still want the blurry effect on a photo you didn’t take with the built-in portrait mode.
How to Blur Background of Android Photo! (2023)
To help you blur the background of your photos, we've put together a list of apps that let you take portrait photos even after you've already taken the photo.
Many of you may not know this, but one of the easiest ways to add a bokeh effect to almost any photo on your phone is by using the Portrait Blur feature in the Google Photos app. To do this, you'll need to open Google Photos, select a photo from your library, tap the Edit button, tap the Edit tab, and adjust the Blur slider in the pop-up menu. The slider will only appear if Google Photos detects a person's face in the shot, which means the feature can't be used to add a blurred background to animals and objects. For now, the Portrait Blur feature in the Google Photos app is only accessible on Google Pixel phones.
Google also offers another app called Snapseed for all your editing needs and you can also blur your background using the same app. The app lets you manually add a blur effect to all your photos, unlike Google Photos which can only create the effect selectively. You can learn how to blur background with Snapseed in our guide and you can use it even if your phone lacks that second camera.
