Of all the classes in BG3, none is as anti-multiclass as the Monk. The Monk doesn’t rely on gear, armor, or weapons, and as such can be difficult for martial classes to pair with, and—without casting—for spellcasters as well. That’s not to say that the Monk doesn’t have multiclass builds.
Baldur's Gate 3 Monk Multiclassing Guide & Ranking
A few classes have exceptional synergies with unarmed strikes and Monk in general, making them very tempting. Let's explore some synergies in the strongest multiclass options you can collect for your Monk.
The Monk is a melee striker who prefers to use no weapons, or simple weapons and Shortsowrds, to deal massive damage. Strong multiclass options for them are spellcasters that give them advantages in specific situations, ranged attackers, or ways to extend their bonus actions.
However, Monks rely heavily on Dexterity and Wisdom, as several functions are disabled while wearing armor. While it’s not impossible to wear armor and be a monk, you do lose some extra movement speed. We’re going to focus on using unarmored builds in this guide, but feel free to try out Heavy Armor Fighter Monks if you’re so inclined.
