Wizards of the Coast has crafted a Limited format monster via Modern Horizons 3, with massive Eldrazi creatures and breakneck card combos that can end matches in a flash. Without MTG removal spells in your Draft or Sealed decks, you've essentially lost before you've even played your first card.
Despite its high cost, I like Ajani Fells the Godsire because all three chapters of the Saga matter in later stages. The first banishes major creatures, the second improves your board state, and the third can potentially end games.
I wasn’t convinced that Dog Umbra was the best MH3 removal tool until Corey Baumeister set me straight. Not only can you play this on an opponent via Aura’s Pacifism ability, but you can also play it on your own creatures as a form of protection. All for two mana at Instant speed.
