One of the cool things about Outcast: A New Beginning is that you can switch weapon modules on and off at will. And once you have both the shotgun and the rifle, all weapon modules can be used in either (but not both). You’ll get a lot of modules as you progress through the game. There are over 30 in total, including some that you have to craft with Module Parts, but these are my favorite combos.
Once you have the gun, you can take on enemies from serious range. If aiming isn’t your thing (it certainly isn’t mine!) and you prefer to run and gun while dodging fire, this combination worked well for me. You’ll take things down slowly due to the low damage, but you can get the job done from a distance and with low ammo consumption, despite the low DPS.
