Diamonds are one of the rarest materials you can find in Minecraft. You can use them to craft swords, armor, tools, and other powerful items that will have a big impact on your game. In this guide, I will show you the best Y level for diamonds in Minecraft.

As for update 1.20. 41, you can easily find diamonds around Y-16. The chance of finding them increases when you reach Y-level -50, just like in the previous update.

The best Y-level to find diamonds is somewhere between Y-level -53 and -55; I usually find success between those levels using the old branch mining method. If you can make your way through the lava without dying, you can keep mining for diamond ores until Y-level -59 (before the bedrock layer at Y-level -60 to -64).

Remember that you can only mine diamond ore with an iron, diamond, or netherite pickaxe. If you mine it with the wrong tool, you won’t get anything out of the ore. The best places to look for diamonds are large caves like the one in the photo above, so check the mountainsides for any cave entrances you come across and bring some Potion of Night Vision with you on your journey!
