Howard has kept a close eye on the production of the Fallout TV show as one of its executive producers. Before its release, he has often stated that the show is canon and does not violate established lore. To assuage fans' concerns, he clarified on April 17 how an event from the show fits into Fallout lore. Beware, spoilers ahead.
In episode six of Fallout, one of the main characters, Lucy, explores Vault 4. She discovers what appears to be a history classroom, where a timeline of the New California Republic is illustrated on a blackboard.
The sign reads "The Fall of Shady Sands" which took place in 2277, four years before the events of Fallout: New Vegas. This annoyed fans because Shady Sands was the first capital of the NCR, and its fall is not discussed in-game. This is where Todd stepped in to clarify.
