Major tech companies like Google, Amazon and Microsoft have already taken over Silicon Valley, but the tech giants appear to be looking to conquer a second territory and industry: space.
Microsoft is the latest Big Tech company to cash in on space satellites, announcing a partnership earlier this week between its Azure platform and SpaceX. More and more of these tech companies are venturing into satellite communications, bringing their money and innovation to the space race.
“The space community is growing rapidly and innovation is lowering the barriers to entry for public and private sector organizations,” said Tom Keane, corporate vice president of Microsoft Azure, in a video announcing the collaboration.
But is it wise to continue allowing Big Tech companies into the space industry, given the amount of attention they receive and the many problems they have with antitrust, data security and privacy? And is the question whether these companies are not too big?
