Over time, combat in World of Warcraft has become more dynamic, exciting, and demanding, especially compared to Classic. According to Wowhead's May 15 report, The War Within will feature Private Auras in both raids and Mythic+ dungeons, making the already demanding content even more challenging. Private auras make PvE more difficult because you can't rely on add-ons to do the heavy lifting for you. In Dragonflight, Private Auras were limited to raids, but in the next expansion they'll also apply to Mythic+ dungeons.

This means that players will have to rely more on their wits and reactions, and practice encounters thoroughly before they can execute them with the same level of perfection as with WeakAuras and other add-ons. Now, you have to read encounter mechanics carefully, learn them inside and out, and then pay attention to them during encounters.

WoW players typically used WeakAuras and other add-ons to solve puzzles and advanced mechanics that would otherwise take too long. For example, in the Sanctum of Domination, during the Fatescribe Roh-Kahlo encounter, players with Runic Affinity must move toward runes to turn the rings. However, there are many different runes on the ground, and you have to distinguish between them before moving to the correct ring. This was overwhelming in the heat of battle, so most players used a WeakAura to do the work for them.
