While every class in World of Warcraft is receiving extensive updates and balance changes with the launch of the game's next expansion, The War Within, there's one class in particular that Blizzard is already slated for some major changes.

That class is Death Knight, all three of which are seeing an overhaul in the new expansion. In a dev update posted by Blizzard, plans have been revealed for all three Death Knight specs, which will suffer from less "resource flooding" as well as a reliance on certain spells at the bottom of each talent tree. All three Death Knight specs are being changed to promote more build diversity, talent options, and overall de-complexification in WoW The War Within.
One of the biggest pitfalls of the Death Knight class is how complex it is compared to others. The Unholy spec in particular has too many “plates to turn” for Blizzard’s liking, and the devs want to make it less frustrating to manage in The War Within. Spells like Gargoyle, Sudden Doom, Festering Wounds, and Vile Contagion are all on the table to be updated in the next expansion.
Frost Death Knights will have slightly different gameplay, with less focus on Breath of Sindragosa, a core ability that Blizzard wants to adjust to "explore a potential alternative that feels fresh and exciting for players who want to try something different," according to the dev update.
