The War Within, launching in early access on August 22, is the latest expansion for WoW. Despite mixed reactions to Delves during the upcoming expansion’s beta test, most players are ready to leave Dragonflight behind. Blizzard kicked off the final weeks of The War Within on August 15 with a new cinematic trailer, featuring impressive anime-style art and a condensed version of Alleria Windrunner’s backstory.
Fan reactions naturally tended towards "no justice for Sylvanas", according to a comment from an X/Twitter user, but a majority of the comments left fans wanting more. Unlike previous cinematics, the art team leaned heavily into an anime style that has captured the hearts of WoW players, even casual players like myself.
From the music to the animation, it’s hard to hate the Alleria Light and Shadow cinematic for The War Within. Scenes featuring Alleria, Turalyon, and their son Arator brought tears to some fans, while others, like one commentator, experienced “goosebumps, chills, and excitement all wrapped up in one trembling package.”
