E-ink is great for reading, but it's not yet suitable for general use on tablets.
Addicted to E-ink: E-ink tablets were nonsense, now I can't stop taking them
If you read on a Kindle, Kobo, or other e-reader device, you’ll probably love it. The combination of an easy-on-the-eye screen, weeks of battery life, and light weight make it a far better option than a tablet or phone for reading. In fact, e-ink readers are so great that you’ll probably wish yours could do more, like display your RSS news feeds, for example. Unfortunately, the Boox Leaf 2 illustrates exactly why e-readers aren’t great all-around computing devices.
"General computing requires a high level of interactivity that is not possible with e-ink technology. E-ink displays have a slow refresh rate, making them unsuitable for tasks like video playback, gaming, or even scrolling through web pages," e-reader enthusiast and tech entrepreneur Jon Morgan told Lifewire via email.
The best thing about an e-reader is the screen. Unlike a computer, tablet or phone screen, which refreshes dozens of times per second and works by shining bright pixels in your eyes, e-ink is a much more relaxing experience.
