Amara in Borderlands 3 is more than your average tank class. Not only does she like to rush into battle by pummeling her enemies with melee, she can also use her magical fists to grab and pin her enemies, or send out a projection of herself that will damage anything in its path.

This build is my personal favorite and is based around Amara's Splash and Elemental Damage. All you have to do is use your Ties that Bind ability to shoot enemies that are stuck together and then just sit back and watch the explosions. For an Augment I would recommend Stillness of Mind for more crowd control, but you can pick any Element depending on the situation: Incendiary, Corrosive, Cryo or the standard Shock.
