When we reviewed the Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700, we had high expectations. Not only do they come with a hefty price tag, they also have a lot of competition to compete with and big shoes to fill: Bose has built a reputation for high-quality headphones, great speakers, and great audio gear. You expect their products to perform excellently and stand the test of time. Now more than ever, with competitors nipping at their heels, Bose needs to hit the ball out of the park, and the 700 might just be the headphone that does just that.

As soon as we unboxed the Bose 700, we could tell that these headphones are built to a high standard. Despite their plastic exterior, they don’t feel cheap in any way and give the impression of quality and durability, as our review during testing confirmed. The earbuds and headband are well-padded, but not overly large: in fact, they’re remarkably slim.

The sliding hinge mechanism that adjusts the fit of the headphones is also notable. It’s a particularly clever piece of engineering, with the two pins of the headband fitting into an open groove at the back of the earcups. These pins slide up and down easily for adjustment, but lock firmly into place in the desired position. They also allow the earbuds to swivel and tilt as needed.
