Users of the privacy-focused Brave browser can now set Brave Search as their default search engine instead of Google.
How to Set Default Search Engine on Brave Browser
In a blog post published Wednesday, the company said that new Brave browser users would automatically have Brave Search functionality in their browser’s address bar, without having to separately navigate to the Brave Search website. The changes are available on Wednesday in the US, Canada, the UK, France and Germany.
“As we know from experience with many browsers, default is critical to adoption, and Brave Search has reached the quality and critical mass needed to become our default search option and provide our users with a seamless online experience with privacy by default,” said Brendan Eich, CEO and co-founder of Brave, in the company’s announcement.
The Brave desktop browser and iOS and Android apps now automatically offer Brave Search as the default for new users. You can also use Brave Search as the default even if you use other popular browsers like Google Chrome, or if you’re an existing Brave browser user.
