HiFi and Review Culture with Brent Butterworth
Brent Butterworth is a former writer for Lifewire, where he wrote extensively about speakers, headphones, and other audio gear for over a year. He is a professional audio journalist and has tested and reviewed thousands of audio products. He has served as managing editor of Home Theater and Home Entertainment magazines, technical editor for Sound & Vision magazine, managing editor of Video magazine, and reviews editor for Windows Sources magazine. Butterworth also served as director of marketing for Dolby Laboratories. He is a regular contributor to websites such as The Wirecutter, Home Theater Review, Techlicious, and SoundStage!
Butterworth's intense interest in the technical side of audio led him to purchase a full complement of audio test equipment and set up an acoustically treated listening room/home theater in a house he chose because he liked the sound of the (former) living room. Butterworth has developed relationships with many of the leading technical minds in audio, often visiting their labs to learn the best ways to evaluate and measure audio equipment. He is a fellow of the Audio Engineering Society.
Butterworth earned a BA in Journalism and Marketing from the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas.
