Antivirus applications

Brian writes about antivirus and backup software for Lifewire, but he’s been writing about technology since the early 1980s, when computers were big, stationary, and expensive. He’s written about or edited stories on everything from Japanese nuclear power plants to car engine design to next-generation electronics. He has an insatiable curiosity about things and how they work that can only be satisfied by writing a story about the subject.

Before becoming a freelance writer, Brian was Editor-in-Chief of Mobile Computing and Communications, where he oversaw the creation of the 250,000-circulation monthly magazine. He spoke at major industry events, covering everything from mobile phones and notebooks to tablets and software, and wrote extensively on the design and production of today’s technology.

Prior to that, Brian served as Senior Editor, responsible for the first third of each issue of PC Magazine. This included new products, news, opinion pieces, and the individual tech reviews. He opened the publication's web presence and was the writer of the Second Look column, which examined products over time. He was also the Associate Editor, responsible for producing major multi-product review features each month.
