Exotic class items were introduced in Destiny 2 with the Final Shape expansion. Aside from being some of the most powerful Exotics in the game, they can also be incredibly difficult to obtain, but upcoming buffs should make them easier to obtain.

In a This Week in Destiny blog post on July 25, Bungie announced buffs to Exotic class items coming to Destiny 2 in early August. The update increases the chance of drops from Overthrow Chests. Each Overthrow Chest you open in the Pale Heart increases the chance of the drop, with higher-tier chests having a higher chance.
This stackable drop chance also applies to Lost Sectors and Co-op missions in Pale Heart. At the same time, Bungie is reducing the drop rate of regular Pale Heart chests, incentivizing you to play Overthrow to farm Exotic class items.
But wait, there’s more! While Bungie patched up the Dual Destiny mission’s double Exotic drop glitch a month ago, it’s now adding a weekly challenge that awards one bonus Exotic class item when you complete the mission for the first time during the week. You can complete this challenge once per character to earn three bonus class items per week.
