If you thought Destiny 2 would end with The Final Shape, think again.
The Future of Destiny: No Annual Paid Expansions. No Destiny 3.
While The Final Shape raid and final mission provided a beautiful conclusion to the Light and Darkness saga, there’s still plenty more to tell about Destiny, as Bungie revealed the game’s upcoming year and beyond in a new video this morning.
The biggest news from today’s presentation is that 2025 will bring a new expansion to Destiny 2, currently called Codename: Frontiers. It might not be an expansion at all, and it could just be more episodes, or a potential rework of the entire game, or something else entirely. The full reveal will likely happen later this year or early next year, but there’s plenty to cover in the meantime.
It all starts with Episodes, a new seasonal method of storytelling and gameplay for Destiny 2. It kicks off tomorrow with Episode: Echoes, which takes on Nessus and centers on the Vex and a mysterious new enemy.
