Cloud9 made a substantial change to its League of Legends roster on April 16 following a disappointing third-place finish in the 2024 LCS Spring Split. Fudge was replaced by Thanatos, but now Fudge claims he will fight to earn the spot back.

On April 18, C9 CEO Jack Etienne spoke about the change in an interview with Dexerto. He discussed why Fudge was benched in the League team and spoke about the Australian top laner's next plans. He revealed that Fudge wants to do his best to win back his spot in the starting lineup.

"Before Thanatos was even a thing, Fudge was repeating, like, 'Yo, I didn't bring the team what I think it needed to win. I'm going to double down. These are the things I'm going to do. I'm going to prove to you that I should have this spot, I'm going to crush it in solo queue. If you have to replace me, pay me nothing and I'm going to prove to you that I should have the spot,'" Etienne said.

For Thanatos, joining C9 is the first chance in his career to play on the starting roster of a main team. He previously spent almost four years on DK Challengers. Fudge, on the other hand, is a true veteran of the competitive League. He has been a foundation of C9's roster since October 2020. In that time, he has appeared at Worlds three times and reached the quarterfinals in 2021. He also helped the team to obtain two LCS trophies.
