This article explains how to upgrade a laptop CPU, explains why this is usually not possible, and gives some ideas on how to improve your laptop's performance.
Upgrading your laptop – CPU / Graphics card / RAM / Disk
You can’t usually upgrade a laptop CPU. Laptops are designed with tight size constraints and have to deal with issues like thermal management, so they’re not modular like desktop PCs.
In order to fit as much hardware into as little space as possible, manufacturers often use non-standard parts and designs, solder components to the motherboard, and generally do not consider future upgrades when designing new laptops.
A handful of exceptions, including Eurocom and Framework, are designed with upgrades in mind. Eurocom laptops use socketed CPUs like desktop PCs, and Framework laptops use a modular design that lets you swap out nearly every component, including the motherboard and CPU.
