Canon Speedlight 430 EX III-RT The best on-camera flash for Canon. A review after many assignments
The Canon Speedlite 430EX III-RT Flash is a flash with all the features that most users would expect from a camera-mounted flash. We particularly liked its unassuming, portable design and rock-solid build quality. Overall, there’s a lot to celebrate in this mid-range solution from Canon, but you’ll have to pay a corresponding price for the privilege.
The first thing we noticed about the Canon Speedlite 430EX III-RT flash was its excellent build quality. The body is still plastic, but there's something about it that just feels extremely solid in your hand. The flash head offers users 90 degrees of vertical tilt and 330 degrees of horizontal rotation, allowing you to tilt the flash almost anywhere you want. This is all accomplished by pressing the bounce lock release button (it says "PUSH" on the side of the flash head). By default, the flash head's movement is limited until this button is pressed.
On the side of the device you’ll find the battery cover, which slides open to reveal space for four AA batteries, the positions of which are clearly marked in a photo directly below. On the front of the device users will find the optical transmission wireless sensor and AF-assist beam emitter, and below the flash head itself, a bounce adapter detector and color filter detector.
