Google Docs: Adjust Margins

When you use Google Docs to type a letter or article, you start with a blank sheet of paper displayed on your screen. The size of the virtual paper corresponds to the typical page layout and size you would see if you were to print your document on a typical A4 sheet of document paper (or 210mm by 297mm).

If you plan to print on different paper or change the page orientation, you may need to adjust the page margins. You can also change margins in Google Docs to move your text closer to or further away from the edge of the page. To learn how to change margins in Google Docs, here's what you need to do.

By default, Google Docs uses a typical A4 document page layout. This means that the virtual page you see is 210mm by 297mm, with margins set at 25.4mm from each edge (top, bottom, left, and right).
