PC games brought to mobile devices don’t always work out so well. After diving into GameClub’s port of Chook and Sosig: Walk the Plank this past weekend, I’m happy to report that this PC-turned-mobile game is as charming as they come, and works very well on mobile.
GameClub launched late last year, bringing back a slew of mobile classics for just $4.99 a month. Now, the service is looking to expand its options even further by offering subscribers access to PC ports of select indie hits. Chook and Sosig: Walk the Plank is the first to join the GameClub library.
“There [are] existing point and click adventure games that have been released on the app store and they work pretty well with pretty minor tweaks,” GameClub’s Eli Hodapp said in a Zoom interview. “It’s just a matter of converting things so that it looks good, works good, and plays the way you expect it to.”
Chook and Sosig: Walk the Plank originally released in 2019 on Steam and other PC storefronts. The point-and-click adventure follows a group of friends as they embark on an adventure via a board game. There are plenty of cute pirate references and a ton of riddles and puzzles for players to solve along the way.
