Toxicity in online gaming is affecting many players around the world, and Activision has come up with an interesting solution to this problem: the use of AI chat monitoring. While the emerging concept of AI in video games is starting to gain popularity, CoD players aren’t too keen on the idea of robots handing out chat bans.

MW3 SECRET VOICE CHAT BAN UPDATE WITH NO FIX 2024

Call of Duty’s AI chat monitoring system came about as an attempt to clean up the toxicity of voice chat, banning those who use certain words, phrases, or general hate speech. Or at least that’s the goal. However, reports from players are starting to suggest that this AI bot is firing a little too quickly.

User issathrowaway1 took to Reddit to vent his frustrations with the AI monitoring system after their 14-day ban ended. They state that they rarely use proximity chat, limiting themselves to party chat with friends. After their initial ban for saying “four f**** on roof” during a game of Rebirth Island Resurgence, they quickly received another ban for “this game is f****** trash” after experiencing a severe lag spike. Both phrases undoubtedly contained profanity, but not enough to warrant a two-week ban.

Our protagonist isn't the only one to have been taken down by the relentless AI. User PADDYPOOP has received two chat bans in the past for language used in party chat, stating, "Two out of the three chat bans I've gotten have been just for being in party chat. It's honestly baffling." Most players report that their chat bans have been due to the usual explicit trash talk you've come to expect in Call of Duty.
