It's been confirmed that Tap to Pay will also be coming to iPhone, with an app allowing iPhone XS models and above to accept contactless payments.
Apple Tap To Pay – EVERYTHING you need to know!
The rumor that Apple will bring instant, contactless payment capabilities that don’t require additional hardware to the iPhone has been made official in a new announcement. Apple’s new Tap to Pay feature will allow small businesses and retailers to accept Apple Pay, contactless credit and debit cards, or other digital wallets with a tap on their iPhone.
According to the announcement, Tap to Pay doesn’t require the use of external devices (i.e., Square readers) or additional payment terminals. Payment platforms and app developers can offer the payment option directly via iOS app integration, with a Stripe point of sale app for Shopify being the first to be announced.
Apple also says that other payment platforms and apps will be added to the Tap to Pay list later in 2022, and that the app will work with most major credit cards that offer contactless payments, such as American Express and Visa.
