It’s easy to control Amazon Alexa devices, like the Echo product line, with your voice. If you’re out of earshot of the Echo, learn how to control Alexa from your phone. You can use your smartphone as an Echo remote, issuing commands from your iOS or Android device.
How to Control Your Echo Devices Remotely
When you’re out of range of your Echo device, use the Amazon app on an iPhone or Android phone to control your smart home devices. Instead of sending voice commands to the Echo, speak to Alexa on your phone to send commands to the Echo, or issue commands by tapping icons on the screen.
This is a useful feature if you have Alexa integrated with your smart home and want to control lights, play music, control appliances, or access other features while in another room or location.
When you control Alexa via your phone, you don't need to enter a wake word. You activate Alexa via the app.
