In our previous Corsair Gaming Headset coverage, we tested the HS35, an entry-level model in Corsair’s 3.5mm Gaming Headset category and today we have the HS50. There are four products in the category, including the HS60 Pro Surround Gaming Headset and Void Elite Surround Premium (7.1) which are top-of-the-line models, all of which are wired 3.5mm gaming headphones that offer a range of features in terms of design, audio quality, and features. There’s the mid-range model HS45 which comes with a unique feature that allows you to enable 7.1 surround sound using a USB adapter. But we’re moving on to the Corsair HS50 review today, which is quite similar to the HS35 but is a higher-end series in a similar category and find out how well it fits in terms of performance and the price factor.
Corsair HS50 Gaming Headset Review, Worth $40?
Corsair HS50 Stereo Gaming Headset has durable metal components that make the headset last longer. This indicates that it is designed to deliver long-lasting performance. Something that you will find in almost every Gaming Headset is Memory Foam over the ear cups for extra comfort. The HS50 has soft memory foam for superior comfort and is built with a 50mm neodymium speaker.
The headband also has a soft cushion to support the upper part of the head, embedded in a metal frame with easy height adjustment. The headband has a full cushion cover, whereas some budget gaming headphones only have it in the middle. This is where the HS50 gets a little more comfortable, the metal frame adds firm grips, which sometimes adds a little pressure on the ears. This may be the cause of the news, but the soft foam over the ear cups makes them comfortable to wear. It completely blocks out outside noise.
Dedicated controls on the body are handy, but I found the in-wire volume controls easier to reach. The Corsair HS50 has a volume control on the left ear cup, along with a mic mute button and a slot for the detachable mic.
