Facebook has begun rolling out Bitmoji-like custom avatars for use in comments, Stories, and Facebook Messenger. They’ve been available internationally for a while and just launched in the US, though you might not see them yet.
How to Create and Use Facebook Avatars (The Ultimate Guide for 2023)
Why now? Facebook’s Fidji Simo announced the launch on Facebook itself, saying that with so much interaction happening online these days, “it’s more important than ever to be able to express yourself personally on Facebook.”
How to get yours: Simo says to create your avatar in Facebook or Messenger comment composer. You click on the smiley face and then click on the sticker tab. There should be a button there that says "Create your avatar!" Lifewire employees don't see the tool yet, so it may be a while before you see it on your own Facebook.
Diversity: Avatars should feature a variety of skin tones, outfits, and styles that reflect your unique self. “It’s important to us that you can personalize your avatar to reflect your unique, authentic self,” Simo wrote in her post, “which is why we’re also adding a new suite of customizations, including new hairstyles, skin tones, and outfits.”
