An easy way to launch apps without having to search for them
How to Set Environment Variables in Windows
By default, Windows uses certain environment variables to give users quick access to specific paths and folders within the operating system. This makes Windows easier to navigate. By defining and setting your own custom environment variables, you can create direct paths and shortcuts to apps, folders, URLs, and more.
Environment variables in Windows are queued based on percent signs (%). If you have never used environment variables before, an easy way to get started is to open the start menu and type one of the following commands into the search box and press Enter.
Notice how if you were to simply type the term appdata into the search box, it would return a wide variety of different results. However, if you type the term %appdata% into the search box, you are invoking an environment variable and are taken to the AppData Roaming directory.
