Social media has been strange—well, stranger—since the death of Twitter. Those of us who’ve moved beyond X have been forced to find our friends on some combination of Bluesky, Mastodon, and Threads, and while there’s some hope that all of these services will eventually merge into the Fediverse, they’re currently only partially connected. The result: Many of us spend time posting the same thing on all three services.

Bluesky is AWESOME

Meet Croissant. This sleek iPhone app from indie developers Aaron Vegh and Ben McCarthy can connect to Bluesky, Mastodon, and Threads simultaneously, letting you post to all of them at once. The idea for the app was born out of McCarthy’s frustration with the crossposting process (we can relate).

"I find it very frustrating to have to duplicate posts across social networks," McCarthy said. "Especially when adding images and alt text, it results in a lot of copying and pasting, and searching through the photo picker to find the same images over and over again."

With Croissant, you can compose a post, add images, and even enter alt text, and send it to all three services at once. There's also support for creating threaded posts on all three platforms at once: just tap the three dots in the bottom-right corner, tap "Add to Thread," and continue posting. If that's too cumbersome for you, you can also swipe left while writing a post to create the next post in the thread. This method lets you compose the entire thread before sending it all to all three networks at once, something that would otherwise be a laborious process of copying, pasting, and replying to your own posts.
