Counter-Strike 2 can expect some incredible changes to its cosmetics and gameplay soon, with a potential new operation, keychains, pets, and customizable agents. This and more has been suggested by noted CS2 dataminer Gabe Follower, who also dug up some interesting hints about upcoming Valve titles.
New CS2 Edit – Keychains / Clothes / Pets / Suitcase / Cards – Next Update
Gabe Follower compiled all of his recent and most interesting findings in a June 18 video, where he highlighted several possible updates that could be coming, first of all regarding the Counter-Strike franchise's 25th anniversary on June 19. "This would be the perfect time for a big update," he explained, claiming that Valve is putting together at least a new skin case. He also briefly touched on details regarding the new operation he briefly hinted at earlier, including a possible new story comic, several maps (including Shortdust and maybe even Cobblestone), and weapon keychains.
Gabe Follower also touched on more chicken animations appearing in the game's engine files, along with numerous mentions of so-called "pets." It's unclear exactly what Valve is doing with these new animations and "pets," however. The preview animations pertain to both in-match and inventory inspection, and hint at the potential appearance of chicken- or pet-related skins and cosmetics. Whether these pets will follow you around or serve some other function is still unknown, and will remain so until Valve further updates these hidden files as development progresses.
Mentions of customizable player characters or agents also appear in the game files, now much more extensive than before. Players may be given the opportunity to change goggles, face masks, heads, clothing, and other aspects of their character. This may be the reason Valve decided to remove faction-based and map-based characters from the game with the release of CS2.
