In late April, Counter-Strike 2 players started noticing a wave of bans, with hundreds of cheaters getting hit with the ban hammer, even during live matches. This raised new hopes in the community.
NiKo really thought he had already won 😂
On May 5, a player posted ConVars data on CS2's subreddit, claiming that the recent wave of bans is bigger than the previous one. Relieved players are now thanking the developer for its efforts to combat cheaters, which have been ongoing since September 2023 and are discouraging players from playing the game.
"I just checked my stats for banned players from my previous matches, wooohoooo. 20 players banned, previously it was 10. We played 2 days ago, and some asshole got banned during the match. We played against a cheater yesterday… he's already banned. That's fucking awesome," the top comment reads. They used data from third-party websites like leetify, which allows you to track players you've played with who are now banned.
But players pointed out that the author of the post was basing his findings on a small sample of data, consisting of just a few hundred bans. They are hesitant to be optimistic this early.
