Counter-Strike 2’s metagame is constantly evolving, depending on Valve’s updates and pro strategies. In an example of the latter, NA pro EliGE has been using an underrated SMG lately, and explained why in a podcast discussion.
The Story Behind Why EliGE Only Uses Default Weapon Skins
The Complexity star has been competing in ESL Pro League Season 19 over the past few weeks. On May 9, the team qualified for the semifinals of the event by defeating Virtus.pro. During the tournament, EliGE took part in the Talking Counter podcast, where he explained why he uses UMP-45, unlike most players.
"The spray control is really easy. You just pull down and everything goes straight. Really easy knockback," EliGE said. From his perspective, enemies simply "melt" if they have no armor, which is the default for eco rounds, where you normally buy SMGs like UMP. But even in full rounds, EliGE feels like "they die really, really quickly."
Those who have watched Complexity’s recent CS2 matches will know that the North American pro doesn’t buy UMP-45 at every opportunity. “MP9 and MAC-10 are better,” he admitted, but he insisted that he’s still going to experiment with the UMP and see where it goes.
