On July 19, 2024, Dungeonborne entered Early Access, meaning fans can download and play the game now before its official 1.0 release. Early Access games are a great way for developers to let players test their game and find bugs – and to get additional funding through game sales or microtransactions.
Dark and Darker clone?! or the next best PvPvE Dungeon Crawler?!
One of the first things that struck you about Dungeonborne is how similar it feels to Dark and Darker. Dark and Darker is an FPS dungeon game with a fair amount of drama surrounding its concept. Nexon, makers of The First Descendant and other games, filed a legal suit against the developers of Dark and Darker, alleging that former employees at Dark and Darker developer Ironmace had used work they had originally completed for Nexon.
Ironmace's offices were raided by police and the game was subsequently pulled from Steam. The game has since become available for purchase again, with Dark and Darker players having access to the game for a second time since June 7, 2024.
Dungeonborne and Dark and Darker share clear characteristics. They both fall into the same genre and have similar graphics and play styles. However, Dark and Darker has much more customization options available – players can choose from more classes and build their character the way they want. What you have to keep in mind, however, is that Dungeonborne has just reached Early Access. The developers may add more features before the official release.
